We have had TWO VERY BAD experiences there. Most Recently on 12-10-22. It took OVER 3 Hours. Upon Arrival, we were Seated within 5 Minutes, and our Server (Alena J) Immediately took our Coffee and Breakfast order. This was at 09:25, and the restaurant was NOT Busy. However, it took OVER 25 Minutes to get Coffee, and our Breakfast was served 1 Hour and 30 Minutes After ordered. BOTH Meals were COMPLETELY COLD, Not even close to Warm. The server COULD NOT FIND the Mgr (John), and we did NOT Reorder, since we were on a Road Trip with 5+ Hours of Drive Time ahead, and did NOT have another Hour and a Half to WAIT. After we Choked Down the COLD Pancakes, Bacon, Eggs, Gravy and Grits, we AGAIN asked for the Mgr. This time they Actually FOUND him walking around. When I informed him of the problem, he offered NO Apology, but said he would get us 2 Promotional Cards for a FREE Breakfast. After ANOTHER 30 Minute Delay, he returned with 2 cards for a Free DESERT or CRAFTED COFFEE. UNACCEPTABLE. AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS !!
We visited Cracker Barrel in Owensboro, Ky. last evening about 6:00. It was a Tuesday evening and they were not busy at all. It was 53 minutes and 46 seconds before we got our food. (I start the stop watch on my phone when we arrive at any restaurant. This time is used to calculate the tip, among other criteria.) My husband had fried catfish, slaw, and fries. I had mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and grits. He said that his food was very good. The potatoes were dry but seasoned nicely, the carrots were good but would have been better if they were hot. The beans were so so but the grits were fabulous! Also all of the food did not come out at the same time. The server was apologetic but that did not alleviate our hunger. I know she has no control over what happens in the kitchen. It seems Cracker Barrel has fallen short in the competition for the diner’s dollar. Too bad. CB used to be our go to eatery.
I lived in Lebanon, TN before Cracker Barrel became such a widespread name for good homestyle cooking with all the fixings. I am extremely disappointed to see that you are now serving alcohol. That totally goes against the family feel and vibe that I appreciated about Cracker Barrel. I hope you will rescind this idea, as it cheapens a quality service in my book.
