    I shop at Safeway, 9045 Woodcreek Oaks, Roseville, Ca. Recently I encountered a dog in a shopping basket. I asked a checker to let me see the manager about this. It took some time for the manager to see me and then he said he had pressing business in the store. His comment to me was that they were afraid to confront customers who go against the rules because they may have good cause to have their dog in the store. Really!! In the store and in a cart to boot. The manager said basically they would get in trouble with Safeway Corporate if they confronted a person with a dog. He also said that customers with dogs shouldhave papers showing that the dog is a service dog. So, why don’t they confront the customer for this document? Also, the stores have a sign that say no dogs allowed in store unless service dogs.
    It shouldn’t be so hard to alert all staff to be on the look-out for any dogs on the store and alert the manager of this. I would like to have this sent to Corporate and have some something done about this problem. And it does no good to resolve the problem by just sending my message to this particular Safeway since I’ve already been there, done that. How about Corporate doing their job.

    Complaint against 467 Store Director/manager Gabe Castro: I have finally had taken enough of watching the store Director harassing his female employees in front of customers. I have seen the store director consume alcohol on his lunch break returning to safeway and smelling like alcohol on his breath and pouring through his pores over a handful of times. No wonder why our community store is becoming lacking in all aspects.
    I have seen the store director yell only at the female employees in the public view of all customers many times but I seen it go to physical harassment. I observed him grabbing female employees by the arm and physically detain them as they try to remove themselves from the hostile situation.
    It’s highly offensive being a brother,father,husband and customer.
    I don’t know if this store allows consuming alcohol while on duty but the physical and verbal harassment is nothing less than diatribe towards his female employees.
    The Director is doing an awful job in all aspects of keeping our store in business and any lawsuits under his management is foreseeable in the near future.

    Was shopping in your store on 2700 Harrison St Arlington Va last Thursday the19th of April. After leaving the store, I loaded my car and proceeded to leave. I shop for an elderly disabled lady I know. As Im leaving the cashier comes out into the parking lot, steps in front of my car and tells me I need to pull over, we know what you drive, you didnt pay for your groceries. I said you just rang me up. He said I didnt give you any receipt. I said yes you did its right here. He said you need to come in to the store, you didnt pay for that. Well I parked my car went in, waved my receipt and said I didnt steal from you. No one apologized. We called the store twice, no action, store mgr claims he didnt even know about the incident. I am totally disgusted with the way I was treated there, and am waiting to hear something from your company. They did tell the elderly lady who called right after it happened, that this has happened before there. And they have no idea why he does this….

    To Store Manager,

    I have lived in Kelso for 15 Plus years and I routinely get my groceries in your store. I have always been treated with courtesy and respect. I shop your store very regularly, usually at least every few days and sometimes more often. Sometimes daily.
    I have been repeatedly given plastic bags with my meat, even when I request only paper. As you are aware millions of these bags go to our landfills. They cannot be recycled in my trash and I try to make the effort to preserve the environment as best as I can. Many in the community are concerned and take positive action. Their concerns should hold credence and be honored.
    I have repeatedly told one of your checkers that I only want paper bags. Again, today my meat was put in a plastic bag. When I spoke up I was told it was only to protect his hands and that it isn’t going into my paper bag. Every time this individual leaves the bags on and they get put in my paper shopping bags. When I confronted him and said that he had repeatedly left the plastic bags on, I was told that I had never been thru his line, had never been in the store and was dismissed like some errant child. This is intolerable. His rudeness and inability to acknowledge his actions and then to tell me I had never been in your store or thru his line is an outright lie. My exact words in response was “Bullshit”. I do not like being called a liar or treated like a child. His actions are not acceptable and he needs his actions corrected by those in charge.

    I’m 67 years old, completely sane, cognizant, aware and have a good grip on life, reality and what I do and where I shop. I’m a full time college student at Lower Columbia College, and have been repeatedly on the Deans list, so I’m not senile, lacking sense, unable to observe or oblivious to where I am, where I shop or what occurs in my daily life as this individual attitude suggests. I don’t tell lies or pull facts out of my hat to fit a situation. Something he should consider trying.
    My Club card number is 450 1041 3298. This club card is a replacement (last year) and I’m sure somewhere in your records you can find additional information confirming just how long I have been a Safeway/Kelso customer. I have shopped Safeway stores since I was a child in Montana (60 years ago) and have always found the service good and the products desirable. Check for yourself and see how often I shop in your store, that indeed I am a regular customer, and that I spend $60-$150 regularly there. To be spoken to in this manner and with the level of arrogance of this individual is a first. His inability to accept stated facts are a dodge and a deception and had I not spoken up, I’m sure I would have gotten more plastic bags.
    The arrogance of this individual, the distortion of facts and his inability to accept guidance from your customers of their preferences will lead to the loss of those customers. The two ladies in line behind me were quite taken back by his attitude and I’m sure they will keep it in mind. How many other individuals has this individual been rude too and displayed arrogance with?? My guess is many. Ultimately, who is it that provides the funds for his pay – the customers. He should be reminded of this and get additional training in how to properly interact with his customers.
    As you are quite aware, there are numerous grocery stores in the local area. Winco is just across the street from Lower Columbia College. Walmart’s prices are lower and just a 5-minute drive from my home. Fred Meyer has a good assortment of goods and I’m told by many of my friends that they prefer shopping there. Options abound with little inconvenience or delay on my part.
    I’m old school and believe that the “customer deserves respect and deference” and that they should be listened to and provided service with respect and courtesy. They are paying for it. If this was the first time this had happen I would have ignored it. As previously stated, this is not the only time its happened. It’s been a reoccurring situation and I will no longer accept it.
    If this individual is ever rude or confrontational with me again, it will be the last time I ever shop at Safeway at any location. No plastic means no plastic. It doesn’t take a linguistics expert to understand the clearly spoken word, but it does take someone who cares about their customers’ needs and desires. Correct this or you will lose a longtime customer (60+ years) permanently
