    I have talked to other safeway staff and was told that this is standard behavior coming from the manager. Now the espresso machine at this store is not working and has been not working for a week now.

    I work at a University and I can not believe my order was 30 minutes late. Tried to call your headquarters and 15 minutes on the phone waiting for someone to pick up. I think our University will rethink ordering from Panera. I expect delays from other delivery services but NOT PANERA. Not sure I will order with you anymore.

    To Whom It May Concern;

    I want to relay a situation to you that I experienced when I when shopping at your newer store in the Orchard’s on Ygnacio Valley Blvd on Wednesday, April 29th, 2020.

    I was redeeming Monopoly free items. I had twelve free donuts, among many other freebies. I went to the bakery, and there were several packages of three donuts each. I asked the woman behind the counter if the freebies would work on the packages of 12. She said,

    “I don’t see why not, but I have some fresher ones back here just boxed. Would you like one of them?”

    “Sure, I would like the just boxed ones.” She brought out three boxes of 12. One of the boxes contained croissants with sliced almonds on top. The woman said that there was nothing in the croissants, and I could have them for the 12 free donuts coupons. I said,

    “Are you sure?” She said.
    “Yes, I am sure. If there’s any problem, tell them Jackie in the bakery said it was okay.”

    “Okay, thanks.”

    I picked up a few more things and stood in line to check out. The guy who checked me out was from India and had a strong accent. His name was Deepak. He was rude and disrespectful. I said,

    “I had 12 coupons for free donuts and, Jackie in bakery said they would work on these croissants.” He said,

    “I don’t think so; I will have to call my manager.” He continued, “I have a woman here who is trying to buy Danishes with a free donut coupon.” I said,

    “They are not Danishes; they are plain croissants, and Jackie in the bakery told me it was okay.”

    “Madam, this has nothing to do with you, just stay out of it. This is none of your business. We have ways of doing things, and it has nothing to do with you.” He hung up the phone (when he talked to me, he held the phone to his chest). He told me that I could not have the croissants for free. I said fine, please take them off my bill please because I am not going to buy them. I had to ask him four times before they were taken out of my bag. I had coupons for 8 extra game pieces, and my receipt said I should receive 26. The cashier gives me 22. I asked if I received my free 8 game pieces?
    “He said, yes. You are done. Goodbye, I need to help other people.” I went to customer service and was given the croissants back and two candy bars that the cashier would not give me. I had three free bags of dry beans coming, and the cashier only allowed me to get two and said the other coupon would not work, and there’s nothing that can be done. When I got home, there were only 22 game pieces, and I should have had 12 more.

    I would not have even mentioned it, but the cashier was rude.

    This message concerns the management at Safeway store located on the 1400 block of Shattuck Ave in Berkeeley,ca. Customers at this store that purchase Starbucks whole bean coffee are unable to have the coffee ground at the Starbucks counter. This is due to the coffee grinder that the Starbucks counter uses is broken and can only grind on course setting. This is not the first time I have reported the broken grinder to you. I first reported this to you 8 months ago and the issue is still not resolved. This issue is also costing your company a massive amount of money when an espresso coffee is to be made. twice as much coffee beans are used to make the same strength espresso or the customer ends up with getting an espresso that is not strong. When Nadia was the store manager for Starbucks Nadia complained to the store head manager about the grinder not being replaced. Nadia told me that the head manager for this store at a managers meeting told Nadia to shut up and not to mention the coffee grinder issue again and he is not going to do anything about replacing the grinder.
    I was appalled to discover that this is how the head manager speaks to other managers. How disrespectful and a manager be? I have talked to other safeway staff and was told that this is standard behavior coming from the manager. Now the espresso machine at this store is not working and has been not working for a week now.
