I stayed at the Hilton Head Island Westin resorts in SC on April 19-23 I paid in full $776.00 for 4 nights at the time I made the reservation. I was told I would pay a fee at time of check in, which was $50.00 and paid for an upgrade for another room, of $80.00 for the 4 nights of our stay. so I thought that was it.. I wasn’t told I would be charged for anything else..
But when I got my credit card bill, it showed I was charged $218.56! I did call the billing department and spoke to a lady, she agreed it was too much.. it should have only been $138.56. She proceeded to tell me that it would take 5 -7 business days before I would see my refund. And gave me a case number..#267485822..I checked after 2 weeks of speaking to her, and still no refund. So I called again the billing department, and had to leave a message, twice!! The only thing I received from them was an email, ( how rude!!) showing a copy of all the fees they charged me for.. and I had paid in full at time of making my reservation, and they wanted to charge me more!! I don’t understand this, all I want is my refund..

I’m in the middle of a problem with the Westin in Punta Cana. They had promised me a group rate 7 months ago. We i got in touch with the group department a few months later i told them that i would be bringing my group in January 2022, because of the current covid situation. I asked groups to send me the quote that they had originally sent me. They did (right before the holidays). In early January i tried to contact me group department person and kept getting email bounce backs. I finally called the resort and found out he was either let go or went on to another resort. When i told the new person about my pricing that was promised me they told me that was a “one time price offered to me”, which it wasn’t. None of this was stated in any of the emails. They they tried to jack the rate up much higher than the rate that was promised. Be very careful with this resort and the management team that runs it!!!

I reserved a block of rooms at the Westin La Paloma for my wedding in November of 2019. I was getting married at a church, however I had family and friends coming from all over the west coast and wanted everyone to stay at a nice hotel. I’ve stayed at the Westin’s all over the United States and have always had good experiences. From the very beginning, I had nothing but issues with my reservation. I was planning my wedding from out of town, had my family who lives locally went in person to meet with Raleigh, who was corporate event planner. They had an appointment to meet with her in advance. She was 45 minutes late to meet my parents and offered no apology, but said she was on a call. She was rude and for weeks after that meeting there were issues with getting our block of rooms corrected. The attitude from the woman was so bad that I finally took over communication with the Westin after complaining to corporate about my experience. From then on, I dealt with someone else who was the catering manger, Susan, who was was helpful, however my friends and family had every issue imaginable trying to book their rooms. They were told there was no reservation or there was no block of rooms. They were charged twice, had multiple reservations under their one name, etc. There was a point that I wanted to cancel the block of rooms, but coordinating friends and family from out of town was hard enough on its own.

On my wedding day, I walked out to the valet area where my new car had been parked by the valet to see my door smashed in. The entire door had a huge dent. I asked the valet what happened and ended up waiting for a manager to come out to explain. They told me that my car was hit and someone would contact me. I was furious as no one had any answers or insurance info as to who was responsible. I was upset but had to go on with my wedding day.

The next day, before I checked out at the hotel, I spoke with the head of security who refused to provide me the hotels insurance, but confirmed that a hotel golf cart had hit my car but didn’t provide any details or timeline as to when my car would be fixed or who was paying for it to be fixed. Again, no apology was offered. Up to this point, I had talked to several employees and several managers, and not one offered an apology. I waited and I made a police report about the incident, as I didn’t feel the Westin took responsibility for what happened. No one contacted me for several days after the incident happened, so I ended up calling my own insurance company to start the repair process as I still didn’t have any insurance information.

After I made a complaint to corporate out of frustration, I started getting emails from a new general manager at the Westin. At this point, I already made a claim through my insurance company and already had a repair quote. My car repair cost approximately $4,000 and took over three weeks to repair. Because of all of the back and forth with insurance and non-responsiveness on the hotel’s part, my car wasn’t fully repaired until January 16th, it was damaged November 23rd.

After my repair was completed, my car was worth less than prior due to the door being replaced and half of the car being repainted. My attorney provided a diminished value expert’s appraisal of a lost value of $5,900. After my attorney going back and forth with their insurance company’s representative, I settled for $1,600, minus attorneys’ fees I walked away with $728. Keep in mind this was a newer BMW, that now has an accident on its Carfax. Also, I was sent Marriott points, however if I wanted to go back to stay that same hotel, the points wouldn’t get me even one night. The first apology that I received regarding this incident was the woman who I spoke with who works at the Westin Marriott in corporate. When I called the police to get a copy of my police report for the incident, they asked me if I was calling about a Tesla that was struck the same weekend at this resort. I fully plan to reach out to the media about this incident, as I’m still convinced that there were many ways to handle this better.

Worst experience ever. I had a reservation with The Moana Surf Rider Resort in Honolulu for today February 14th. I had to cancel because I took ill. I was put in touch with Joesph Woodworth to see about a medical waiver. Yes I knew the cancelation policy. No it was not possible to cancel before the required date. Here’s a fact no airline was going to let me fly because of my cough, and fever. I was given two fax numbers to mail a doctors certification notice. I was given two email addresses. All turned out to be false. I wasted an entire day dealing with it and I think finally may have an email address, but have all ready been charged. I have dealt with hotels.com and the Resort itself. I’ve been lied to so much my head is spinning. Here is the kicker. The trip was insured so I didn’t even need a waiver. This is not a cheap resort. I planned on staying there three nights. Now we are replanning the trip and it won’t be with your hotel chain. I also belong to several Hawaii travel sites and I am letting it be known that you are not a place to stay on any island. One person can’t hurt you, but maybe 10 sites and several people on each website can. I really truly hope my 600.00 costs you 60000.00 have a great weekend.
