It’s true that Petco really does not care much about their smaller animals for sale. I bought two teddy bear hamsters and both were dead within a week from a disease called wet tail. I first saw it after I brought them home- they had very bad diarrhea. They sold me the hamsters while they were sick, too. They have these young kids working for them and they do not care if the hamsters are sick when they sell them. I got a refund but after a hassle. I was told my money would only be refunded if I brought the hamsters’ bodies in to the store. I told them I wanted to bury them myself. The clerk spoke to the manager who told me I can have the refund but “next time” I will have to bring the bodies. I let him know he was not supposed to sell sick hamsters. Also, bringing in the dead bodies of the hamsters is not corporate policy for a refund for them. This happened at the Riverdale Crossings Mall, W. 237th St. Bronx, New York. I tried, too, to contact Petco’s corporate offices by mail but had my letter returned to me for an “insufficient address.” The day I got my refund I went to the small pet section and saw that the hamsters, two of them, that were caged with the ones that I bought the week before, were gone. They probably died of wet tail, too.

You are COWARDS to not post an email address! BUT…….you want MY email address. HYPOCRITES!!! Of course, I guess you don’t want to hear about how AWFUL you are, and figure if people call a phone #, they won’t say what they really think or, at least, they will be saying it to someone paid a crappy wage to listen to people who are angry. I don’t want to call in and complain to someone who has absolutely NO authority to do anything about anything and probably couldn’t care less. This company SUCKS in SO many ways, I will no longer do business with you AT ALL, and I will tell everyone I know how HORRIBLE you are. Go ahead…..grow a pair and email me back with YOUR email address.

I have been in a local Petco and it has come to my attention that many of your smaller ranged animals get less care and living space. Though you guys have fixed foods and such for dogs and cats, you should be looking into the living space of your betta/Japanese fighting fish. They are living in mug sized containers. It is proven that Betta/Japanese fighting fish are PRONE to illness and stress living in SMALL spaces. I have witnessed about 4-5 SICK fish in your stores. That is tragic and should not be allowed. Along with your birds. They all live in one cage and have 0 room to even try and fly! A bird unable to use its instinct is terrible. This should never have been an issue and should be fixed. Your stores are very, very large. You can make room for a bigger living space for other living and breathing creatures!

I was in Petco yesterday at the Staples Mill Road location in Richmond VA 3/30/19 . I saw a pet groomer using the electric clippers on a small grey dog .The dog cried out as he was cutting the hair around his rectum . I was told the dog had messed on himself . This should have been taken care of by bathing the feces off not cutting it off . The little dog cried out two more times because he kept cutting the skin , then the male groomer took him away from view into the back room because people were starting to stare at him . I looked Petco up on the internet . Dogs have been injured and have died from the Grooming Salon groomers at Petco . I believe Petco removes most reports as soon as they become public knowledge . I did find on the web that Pet Smart is responsible for 47 dog deaths after grooming . Yes I did say Pet Smart . If you are associated with any pet rescue or pet foundation please try to educate people about grooming at home ,. I get my dog’s nails done at my vet for $11.00 . Lets work together to protect our precious animals .

Petco is the worst company I have ever done business with. all of there managers hide from there customers. They either have 2 many problems or just scared to talk to someone. I was a service manager for 30 years at a very large corporation. If we treated our customers like they do we wouldn’t be around. They are suppose to have customer service, but that department is terrible. I just need to talk to someone that can help with a med problem. Dr, Foster sold out to them which is a big mistake.

The Issaquah Washington Petco is a very well kept store with great employees. I am however saying good bye to Petco. I am an animal rescuer and have stopped there often to buy petfood and products when delivering pets from eastern Washington to our rescue partners near Seattle. I see that Petco is eliminating quite a few popular brands. One, Fancy Feast, has kept my sanctuary diabetic cats healthy for years and is recommended by my vet. Some popular petfood brands do contain small amounts of bad things, but on the whole, in forty years of working with pets, they have done well on those foods. Pet food needs vary and I use both the “pure” more expensive products and the ordinary ones such as Frisksies Buffe along with lean meat I prepare. Once I tried a very expensive “pure” tuna product that smelled so “tinny ” when I opened the can I threw it out. I will not shop where I am told what I can and can’t buy for my pets. I go with the advice of my vet, not with the constraints of a pet store. I have spent thousands of dollars at Petco (My number is 509 925 2092 if you want to check). I will not spend another cent. I suspect this change is as much about some kind of politics and payola as about supposed pet health.

A shopper who spends upward of $200 each time visited for my 5 pets, getting to know all the personnel, it was a great store! Something then happened to turn it into a horror show…who knows the time and place, but why would I shop there any longer? I hesitated but thought last night as I went by, stop in and see if they have what you need-fish food. NO, the shelf was practically bare to which needing something else, went to search for a blanket for my little besties-only two! Scouted the store to just visualize the stock and was struck at the lack of employees, no one to ask a question to or of, and I couldn’t even remotely look at merchandise. Wow, have they fallen down the ladder to the lowest rung.
I will not, refuse to contact them via email for they will let the store manager see my complaint and that will fall on deaf ears. It appears they all could care less, including CORPORATE. So, with that said, including my less than stellar review of a store I adored, my pets took to, I will now go onto another venue to find responsible retailers who will have what I need; answer questions I ask; order merchandise I want and need, and do it all with a smile.
When checking out, to complete this diatribe, last night I asked the checker/clerk a few questions to which she flatly, curtly announced we have them over there (never showing me and they didn’t), was nasty, and could have cared less. So much for these darn millennials who could flat out show you the door when you arrive. How dare she and I said sayonara Missy.
Don’t let yourself be abused by a store who could care less for they carry foods that are not safe, made in China though they claim they’re not, and the service is NOT there.
    Bye bye Petco.

I have been shopping at Petco since they opened near my house. I watch them groom a dog there and decided to take my 91/2 pound Bejionpoo there to be groomed. First second and thired time i paid $35.00 this last time i paid $52.00 when i asked the manager anout the price increase he told me the price has increased, that’s a big increase $17.00 wow! Needless to say i will be finding another groomer for my dog. The manager at the Palm Coast store in Florida could have cared less. Linda Macaluso
